Step-By-Step Instructions:

Designing a mechanical style footer for a website

Create a rounded rectangle using rounded rectangular shape tool.

 

Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply settings as shown.

 

Reduce the fill value to 0%.

 

Duplicate the layer and remove layer styles. Enable "subtract from shape area" at the top bar. Create two circles using elliptical shape tool.

 

Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply settings as shown.

 

Duplicate the layer and remove layer styles. Enable "subtract from shape area" at the top bar. Create two circles using elliptical shape tool.

 

Double click the layer to open layer style window. Apply settings as shown.

 

Create a rounded rectangle using rounded rectangle shape tool. Apply same layer style.

 

Create some small rectangles as shown. Apply same layer style.

 

Create a thin line below these rectangles.

 

Create a small ellipse using elliptical shape tool. Apply a pixel stroke layer style.

 

Duplicate the layer several times and place as shown.

Similarly create on the other side.

 

Create some basic shapes to add details. Use previously applied layer styles.

 

Select and merge all the layers. Type link names.

 

Duplicate the tube layer twice. Scale down and place as shown.

 

Similarly create more duplicates and place as shown.

 

Select and merge all the layers. Change the layer mode to "Color Dodge" and opacity to 50%.
